Every state has boating laws which may require additional equipment over and above what is required by the United States Coast Guard.  They also may have laws requiring boaters to have a state boater safety card .  The USCG Auxiliary offers baoter safety  classes in all 50 states that are approved by the NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Law Administrators) and by each state.
