Massachusetts law requires:
- Still requires all vessels over 26 feet LOA to have a bell, in addition to a whistle or horn.
- A means of manual water discharge (bailer or pump)
- A boarding ladder, steps or platform if participating in any water sports (towing, skiing, tubing)
- An anchor, Chain & line
- Boats less than 16 feet LOA must carry and oar or paddle
All Massachusetts boaters born after January 1, 1989, must obtain a Boater Education Card by completing an approved course and carrying it on board.
